Classes and Workshops
Below is a list of the classes we currently have available. Please have a look at our calendar before registeringso that you can specify the date of the class you are interested in.
Consider the Children- Workshop for Divorcing Parents
Divorcing parents learn about the impact of divorce on the children. This 3-hour workshop (offered weekly throughout the year) satisfies family court requirements.
Fee: $30 cash, money order at the time of class, or credit card online.
Explore the origins of your own anger management style while learning other coping methods and developing ways to recognize anger earlier and manage it more effectively. This 10-hour workshop (four 2 1/2 hour classes) satisfies local court requirements.
Fee: $50 cash or credit prior to class start.
Maximizing Success in Blended Families
Debunk "step family" myths and unrealistic expectations while preparing to co-parent during this 1 ½ hour session while learning new ways to effectively handle common concerns and challenges.
Parents of children with disabilities learn new parenting techniques while meeting other families and learning of community resources during this five-week, eight-hour workshop. this program is presented in collaboration with ESCAPE Family Resource Center of Houston and National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) of Montgomery County.
There is no fee for this class.
Parents of young children will enjoy this fun and educational program which focuses on developmental stages, encouraging your child’s unique qualities, discipline for the young child and other topics based on the needs of the group.
There is no fee for this class.
Young and Expecting Moms Support Groups
Young and expecting mothers participate in weekly group meetings to share the experience of parenting. Mothers with babies bring them to play together at meetings. A portion of meeting time is spent discussing topics of interest to expecting and new mothers, and the remainder of the meeting is spent in activities and social time with other moms. Mothers are referred to us from area medical facilities, pregnancy centers and other moms in the support groups.
